HALEA ISABELLE KALA
My intention is to support and develop new forms of artistic, cultural, event and media formats that challenge the current system by envisioning new possible realities.
I'm an artist, director and creative producer from Berlin. Since my studies in Photography, Media and Communication at Goldsmiths University of London, I have been documenting stories of individuals and communities, with a particular focus on societal, political and ecological matters.
My latest project is TRANSMODERNITY, a feature length documentary and inspirational platform presenting an array of different changemakers, who are active in the fields of education, activism, economics, the arts as well as ritual and healing. I’m furthermore foundress of the Transition Institute, my life oeuvre. It is a co-laboratory for the New Now that is dedicated to inner and outer transformation with the mission to educate, encourage and empower.
I love bringing people together and collaboratively creating spaces for collective experience.
I’m a festival producer, musician and cultural activist. After growing up in the Harz Mountains, I later ventured out to London and Shanghai during my studies in Cultural Science, and eventually moved to Berlin, the place I now call home. Since age 16, I’ve been organizing music events and festivals - and parallel to this also started making my own music. With Alte Münze I'm furthermore dedicated to providing more permanent frameworks for people from different kinds of backgrounds to come together. Over the past 5 years, we transformed the Alte Münze - a former coin factory on 9 000 m2 in the heart of Berlin - into a buzzing cultural hub with gallery and event spaces, as well as art and music studios. My mission is to protect and cultivate vibrant safe spaces for art and culture.
MARIE JAYNE CHANEL
We are Claire and Muriel McIntyre. A sister duo working collectively in challenging normativity and conformism, through a visual diary of daily accounts and conversations.
We have an online and offline publication comprising the thread of our thoughts and happenings under the name of Marie Jayne Chanel.
I, Muriel Jayne, am a multimedia and conceptual artist based in Edinburgh and Berlin. I question ideas of duality within identity, emphasised through my working process of large scale installations and 2D collages. The flat surface of the paper expands into the curated space, where I insert the dichotomy of the organic and viscerality of the body in contrast to the rigidity of the pre-given composition.
I, Claire Marie, am a visual artist based in Berlin. Challenging social norms and conditioning through imagery and social documentary, I explore the mind, its people and our society. Questioning behavior and group dynamics, from gender constructs to the concept of the artistic practice, I portray it through the underlying structures of our social practices. Documenting the body within the spaces as the skin and thought navigate systems of construct, defying preconception while engaging in conversation.
